How do I activate the Hydro Crystal Technology inside the products?

Follow these easy steps to active the cooling power of your product.

STEP 1.  Soak your product in cold water to activate the cooling Hydro Crystals.

             Add ice or refrigerate for an even cooler sensation.

STEP 2.  After a few minutes, scrunch and loosen the crystals inside the lining to

             distribute them evenly.  This will speed up the soaking process.

STEP 3.  Continue to soak for 20 minutes or until the crystals are fully hydrated. 

                     (The first time you soak your hat, it may take a little longer to dissolve

             the capsules that contain the Hydro Crystals).

STEP 4.  Squeeze excess water from your product and dry with a towel.  It is now

             ready to wear. 

When I bought it, I felt pill shaped bumps in my product.  What are they?

These are capsules that contain the Hydro Crystals.  They will dissolve fully the first time you soak your product.  After a few minutes of soaking, rub or scrunch the capsules to loosen the crystals inside the lining. 

Why do I need a soak bag and what is it used for?

You put your Chill Factor hats and neck wraps inside your soak bag, then add ice and water.  The bag is leak-proof on the bottom and has a round zipper top.  While your are wearing your hat and neck wrap, you can have another set soaking - then just swap them throughout the day.

How do I care for my product?

Washing Instructions:  Soak in clean water at least 20 minutes before washing.  Hand wash with mild detergent.  Hang dry.  Do not launder in a washing machine or dryer. 

To prevent mildew, do not leave products in closed containers for extended periods of time.  Do not bleach. 

Products should be rinsed or washed daily. 

Will my hat feel dripping wet when I wear it?

The Hydro Crystals in your hat absorb, and hold the water.  After soaking, squeeze out the excess water from the hat and dry with a towel to prevent dripping.  The outer cover will dry quickly in the sun. The inner lining will stay moist and cool. Even though it is used wet, it doesn’t drip.

How does it keep me cool?

Inside your cooling product is a lining filled with Hydro Crystal Technology - a super absorbent polymer crystal that will absorb 400 times its weight in water and transform into a cooling gel.  The cooling gel transfers heat away from your head.  Its moisture barrier protects your head from the sun. The ice cold water trapped in the cooling gel evaporates gradually, creating a cooling sensation, keeping your body temperature in the proper range.

How long will it stay cool?

Your product will stay cool for two to four hours.  It’s easy to recharge the cooling power of your hat.  Just dip your hat in cold water every few hours or refrigerate to re-cool the crystals. Ice water works even better. 

How many times can I use the Chill Factor cooling products?

Your cooling products can be used thousands of times.  The Hydro Crystals are not damaged by the re-hydrating or drying out process

Can I freeze the hats and neck wraps?

No, it is not recommended that you freeze your products because it can damage the Hydro Crystals.  However, you can add ice or refrigerate for maximum cooling.

What is the return policy?

We have a 30-day return policy against manufacturer defects.  The products must be returned with new tags and must be new (never soaked or used). 

How long does it take for the cooling crystals to dry out?

After a few days, the water inside the Hydro Crystals will evaporate and return to their dry form.  Simply re-soak in water to transform the Hydro Crystals into a cooling gel.

Is it safe to use?

The Hydro Crystals inside our products are non-toxic and safe for use in contact with the skin.
